Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-14 · Last updated: 2026-08-14
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) describes how the Burst Download project (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, processes, and protects information in connection with the website located at https://www.burstdownload.com (the “Website”) and the Burst Download software (the “Software”).
We are committed to minimizing data collection. This Policy explains, in plain and precise terms, what information is processed, by whom, and on what legal basis. By accessing the Website or using the Software, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
2. Definitions
- Personal Data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, as defined under applicable data protection law.
- Website means the site published at https://www.burstdownload.com, including all of its pages and subdomains.
- Software means the Burst Download application and its related release artifacts distributed through the Website or GitHub.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide
The Website does not require registration, accounts, or profiles. The sign-up and donation forms currently published on the Website are demonstration features: data submitted through them is validated in memory and immediately discarded. We do not store, transmit, or otherwise retain any information submitted through these forms.
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
We do not operate analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting technologies on the Website, and we do not set first-party cookies. The Website is hosted on Cloudflare’s content delivery network. In the course of normal operation, Cloudflare processes standard connection metadata — including IP addresses, user-agent strings, request timestamps, and requested URLs — for the purposes of security, abuse prevention, and performance optimization. Such processing is governed by Cloudflare’s own privacy policy and is conducted on the basis of legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable service.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Website does not use cookies, web beacons, local storage, or any other tracking technologies for advertising or cross-site tracking. If this changes in the future, this Policy will be updated and, where required by law, consent will be obtained before any such technologies are deployed.
5. Third-Party Services
- Cloudflare: hosting and content delivery, as described in Section 3.2.
- GitHub: the Software’s source code, release assets, and issue tracker are hosted on GitHub. If you download release assets or contact us through GitHub Issues, GitHub’s privacy policy applies to your interaction with its services.
- Search engines: public pages of the Website may be indexed by search engines, which process publicly available content in accordance with their own policies.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
To the extent that any Personal Data is processed in connection with the Website, such processing is based on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Website and Software (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, or the equivalent basis under other applicable law). We do not engage in processing based on consent, contract, or legal obligation, because we do not collect Personal Data directly.
7. International Data Transfers
Cloudflare and GitHub operate globally distributed infrastructure. As a result, connection metadata and other data processed by these providers may be transferred to and stored in countries other than your country of residence, including countries outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers are supported by the providers’ compliance with recognized transfer mechanisms, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, as applicable.
8. Data Retention
We do not retain any Personal Data ourselves. Connection metadata processed by Cloudflare is retained in accordance with Cloudflare’s data retention policies. Data processed by GitHub is retained in accordance with GitHub’s policies.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights with respect to Personal Data: the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”), the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing (GDPR); and, under the CCPA, the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
Because we do not collect or store Personal Data directly, there is no personal information in our possession to access, correct, or delete. If you believe that personal information concerning you has been processed in error, you may contact us through the channels described in Section 12, and we will investigate and respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Website and Software are not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children. If you believe that a child has provided Personal Data in connection with the Website, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
11. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the Website and Software, including transport encryption (HTTPS), security headers, and adherence to the principle of data minimization. Because we do not collect or store Personal Data, the principal risks associated with data retention are not present in our operation.
12. Contact Information
Questions, requests, or complaints regarding this Policy may be submitted through the issue tracker at https://github.com/ErnestAgel/burst-download/issues. We will respond within a reasonable period, not exceeding the timeframes required by applicable law.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Website, Software, or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Website or Software after the effective date of a revised Policy constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
14. Effective Date
This Policy is effective as of 2026-08-14.
